A central figure in long flowing saffron-orange robes with a matching orange head covering and a gold-bead mala walks with eyes lowered. Beside him, a figure in orange with a red shawl and gold necklace carries a silver tray. Behind them, a bearded man in orange robes walks at the right edge. On the left, men in white dhotis with yellow shawls carry a brass vessel and a golden staff, and two ornate multicolored parasols with tasselled fringes and bird motifs shade the group. A trident-topped staff rises at the right. The setting suggests a ritual walk, possibly toward a sacred water site.2010-01-02A night procession walks along a dirt path lined with dark foliage and a low orange wall, lit by overhead street lamps. Participants in white dhotis and yellow shawls carry lanterns and hold ritual items, while saffron-robed men and women walk in front. Behind them a decorated palanquin or ratha with a multicoloured umbrella and a floral garland-draped structure is carried along. A bald man in saffron with rudraksha beads and a gold necklace walks at the centre, and a woman in orange sari with a camera stands at the lower left. The scene suggests a torchlit Karthikai Deepam style festival procession.2010-11-21January 03 20082008-01-03
