July 20 20102010-07-20A photograph of a man in a cream-coloured kurta standing close to the thick, buttressed trunk of a large tree, with his face pressed against the bark and his right hand resting on it. He wears a black head wrap, wire-rimmed glasses, a long orange-red rudraksha mala draped over his shoulders, and a beaded bracelet on his wrist. The tree's exposed roots and aerial prop roots fill the right side of the frame, and a sunlit dirt path with a red wall lies behind him.2019-04-07A man in a white long-sleeved shirt with thin vertical stripes stands outdoors beside a large banyan-type tree trunk, leaning his head and right hand against the bark with eyes closed. He wears a brown rudraksha-style mala and a thin blue cord around his neck, plus a silver bracelet on his wrist and wire-rimmed glasses. Behind him, green foliage and other tree trunks fill the frame, and a white cloth hangs at his side.2010-02-22A man with long dark hair tied back in a low knot leans his forehead and right hand against the trunk of a large tree with exposed roots. He wears a saffron-orange wrap over his bare shoulder, with a red-and-orange striped border, and a dark rudraksha mala around his neck. His eyes are closed.2011-02-02A young man in a red and white striped long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans sits cross-legged on the bare red earth beneath a large banyan tree, his palms pressed together in namaskar at his chest and his head bowed in prayer. A white-painted circular platform or low wall sits behind him, and the thick aerial roots and trunk of the banyan fill the right side of the frame. He wears a wristwatch and a small name badge on his shirt. No identifiable a person figure is present; this is a devotee in quiet prayer at the banyan tree.2010-07-08A photograph of a man standing outdoors beside a large banyan tree, pressing his forehead against one of its thick, grey aerial roots with his eyes closed. He has long dark hair gathered into a low knot at the back and wears a rudraksha mala around his neck. A saffron-orange and red shawl drapes over his bare shoulder and torso, and his hands are folded at the base of the trunk. Blurred green foliage and soft light fill the background. The figure has distinctive long swept hair, a rudraksha mala and saffron-orange clothing, so the appearance-based label is a person, presented here in a meditative pose at the tree.2011-02-02A photograph of a man in a saffron-orange robe leaning his forehead and cheek against the trunk of a large tree with aerial roots, eyes closed in a calm, devotional posture. He wears a thick rudraksha mala with gold bead accents around his neck, a white horizontal tilak on his forehead, and a gold earring, with long dark hair falling behind him. He is bare-shouldered on one side, and green foliage and daylight fill the background. The figure is a single person, presented as a devotee in meditative prayer; appearance-based identity is not established here.2013-04-21Close-up photograph of a bare-chested man with long dreadlocked hair and a short beard, eyes closed and forehead pressed against the rough grey bark of a tree trunk. A white vertical mark is painted on his brow, and he wears a long garland of pink flowers and white beads with gold spacers draped over his shoulder. Green leaves and a vine blur the foreground, and a terracotta-coloured wall shows in the background. The pose suggests reverent tree worship at the Mattu Pongal celebration, where cattle and the harvest are honoured.2018-01-15A photograph of a man in profile leaning his forehead against the trunk of a large banyan-type tree with aerial roots, eyes closed in a devotional, meditative posture. He has long dark hair swept back, a vertical sacred mark on his forehead, and wears a yellow-orange cloth wrap over bare shoulders with a red-bordered edge, a red-beaded necklace and a gold-coloured arm band. His hand rests on the trunk beside his face. Blurred green foliage and bright sky fill the background.2011-11-04December 01 20112011-12-01December 30 20092009-12-30A photograph taken at night against a dark background. A bare-chested man with long dark hair and a full beard leans his face against the pale trunk of a tree, eyes closed and smiling, one hand resting on the trunk. He wears an orange-brown cloth draped over his shoulders and a long garland of white flowers with orange and green blossoms. Green leaves frame the tree. A faint logo appears in the upper left corner.2017-03-19
