December 13 20112011-12-13A photograph of a ceremonial moment beside a large deity murti in orange and gold garments with an elaborate crown, decorated with red, yellow and green flower garlands. A man in a brown-orange dhoti-style garment with a gold necklace and a red-and-yellow flower garland holds a silver plate and smiles up at the murti while touching its arm. The stone ceiling and garland-decorated altar frame the scene. Appearance suggests a person wearing a rudraksha-style ceremonial necklace and garland, performing an offering or bhiksha-style gesture to the murti during a Guru Purnima celebration.2013-07-22A photograph of a temple puja. A man with long dark hair, bare-shouldered and wearing a red-and-gold striped dhoti-style cloth, a gold chain and rudraksha-style beaded necklace, holds a lit flame on a silver lamp (aarti) toward a metal deity murti. The murti is adorned with a gold and red crown, a red silk garment and a white flower garland. Behind it stand tall garlands of yellow, purple, red and white flowers and a gold arched backdrop. The man appears to be a person, based on long swept hair, ceremonial gold necklaces and rudraksha beads, with the murti receiving pada-puja-style worship. Brass and gold ritual implements sit nearby.2011-12-12A man in a blue silk dhoti and matching blue shawl with an orange border stands at left, holding a brass oil lamp (arati) toward a golden deity murti seated on a throne. The murti wears a jewelled golden crown, blue silk garment, gold armlets and a white flower garland. Behind it stand tall multicoloured flower garlands in yellow, red, purple and green, and ornate gold metalwork frames the throne. The man wears a rudraksha bracelet and a rudraksha mala. Sunlight enters from the left through a stone temple doorway. The scene appears to be a festival procession at a temple, with the deity seated in a ratha-style setting.2011-12-17A photograph of a priest in a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl with a red and white garland performing aarti before a gilded deity murti seated on a golden throne with a peacock-shaped arch. The murti wears a crown, gold necklaces, and red and yellow flower garlands over a mint-green cloth. The priest holds a silver lamp with a flame over the figure, while another person's hand holds a tray of red flowers at the lower right. A corrugated roof and a few plants frame the outdoor shrine.2015-02-23 +1 copiesDecember 13 20112011-12-13April 30 20152015-04-30December 11 20112011-12-11A temple ritual in a stone-walled shrine: a person in a red silk dhoti and red shawl with a gold-toned rudraksha mala and gold necklace, wearing a gold armlet and bangles, holds a brass lamp with a flame and a bell in pada-puja style, facing a seated golden-and-red ornate murti of a deity draped in a red sari with a crown and trident-like ornament and garlanded with white jasmine and multicolored flower strands. She reaches toward the deity's face and ornaments with both hands, adjusting a jewelled chain. The murti wears a silver crown, a green and gold garment, and an orange cloth, and is framed by a gilded arch and long garlands of red, yellow, purple, and green flowers. A gilded throne-like seat with garlands sits at left. The scene reads as puja and darshan in a shrine setting.2011-11-29A photograph of a ceremonial moment in front of a deity murti seated on a gold ornate throne with a red velvet curtain behind. The murti wears a large gold crown, a jeweled and embroidered orange-and-white garment, and is garlanded with thick bands of red, yellow and white flowers. On the left, a standing man in an orange-brown turban and a red flower garland, bare-shouldered with gold armlets and a gold-trimmed brown dhoti, holds a white ceremonial staff and raises his open palm toward the murti. The visible cues are a turban, red garland, gold armlets and ritual staff; the figure's identity is not established by the image. Gold bangles and a green-and-red silk drape complete the scene.2015-04-28
