On the right, a man with long swept-back dark hair, a white tripundra with a red bindi on his forehead, and multiple rudraksha-style gold beaded necklaces presses his palms together in anjali at a microphone stand. He wears an orange garment and has ash markings on his arm. On the left, an older man in orange with a maroon border on his shawl and gold beads bows forward, eyes lowered, near an open flame. The background is dark with a blurred crowd of onlookers. This appears to be a homa or fire ritual.2010-02-12Night photograph outdoors in a courtyard beside a red wall and potted plants, with a bright work light and a plume of smoke or incense haze behind a central man. A bare-chested man in a maroon-brown dhoti and shawl stands barefoot with palms pressed together in namaskar, wearing a long multicoloured flower garland of yellow, white and red blooms, his long dark hair hanging down his back. To his left a man in an orange dhoti holds a red object, and further left stand men in saffron and white ritual clothes, one wearing a rudraksha mala and holding a long staff.
