The pole has a carved wooden or copper cap at the top with a red and white cloth banner and a cord running down its length. Near its base a bundle of dried straw and green leaves surrounds the pole, and a small carved deity murti sits in a niche on a stone pedestal wreathed in white and red garlands. Two men in saffron-orange robes stand at the base, one on the left in a red-orange garment with a red-and-white beaded garland and gold bangles, the other on the right with a shaved head and orange wrap, both pulling on the ropes and guiding the pole upward. Strings of white paper or leaf decorations hang beneath the roof edge, and palm trees and a pale sky appear behind.

Marigold and yellow garlands hang from its base. A man in saffron robes wearing a white floral garland pulls a rope to raise the flag under a clear blue sky, with a coconut palm behind. To the right, two more men in saffron with rudraksha-style necklaces stand near, one holding a ceremonial plate, and a partly visible person stands at the lower right. A cameraman with a video camera is at the right edge.
