A shaved-headed priest in white with a sacred thread leans forward to touch the lingam, while another priest in a red-orange dhoti sits at the right corner beside a brass offering tray. A man in an orange shawl and white kurta stands among the devotees, with a woman in a white shawl and red trousers covering her face with her hands nearby. Women in red, pink and teal saris and headscarves gather, one holding a bowl of flower petals. A silver kalasha pot hangs above the lingam, and a trident stands at the upper right. Painted tilaks mark several foreheads, and a red-saffron cloth hangs in the background.2006-01-05A photograph of a large dark blue-grey Shiva lingam being bathed with liquid, a stream of milk or water pouring down its surface. A garland of marigolds in yellow, orange, red, white and purple wraps the top and right side of the lingam. A silver yoni-pattern plate is set into its base. Behind it, a priest in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl, with a rudraksha mala and sandalwood-marked forehead, pours a vessel over the top of the lingam from a raised metal platform, while another orange-clad priest stands beside him and a third is partly visible at the left edge, hands folded. Red brick steps and a tree are in the background.2013-10-28January 13 20152015-01-13A large grey cylindrical lingam is being bathed with milk or white liquid during an abhishekam, streaming down its surface and garlanded with a long band of marigolds, roses and yellow blossoms. On a raised platform to the right, a man with long dark hair, gold jewellery and a red-and-gold garland pours from a white vessel, while a bald priest in an orange-red robe with a gold border stands beside him. Behind them, rows of seated devotees in white clothes watch from the steps and a fenced enclosure. Floral festoons in orange, yellow, purple and white line the base, and a blue sign reads Vaidyasareshwara. A kumkum-coloured seat sits on the steps beside the platform.2013-12-27Photo 11739404December 08 20162016-12-08Large dark grey stone Shivalinga on a circular yoni-peetha base stands in shallow water, with water pouring from its spout. A multicoloured garland of red, yellow, white, green and purple flowers wraps the lingam. Behind it, red stone steps hold a row of seated white-clad devotees and several people in orange and red saris and dhotis; a priest in orange with a rudraksha-style garland stands at the top, and a few ritual brass vessels sit on the steps. The scene is an abhishekam at an outdoor temple, with a red-roofed building and railings behind.2013-06-03
