A bare-chested priest performs temple ritual at the Nithyanandeshwara Paramashiva Devalayam in Los Angeles. He raises a gold-handled white chamara fly-whisk in his right hand and rings a brass handbell in his left. He wears a white dhoti with a broad gold border, multiple strands of rudraksha beads across his chest, a small pendant, and white sacred ash marks on his forehead and upper arms. His long hair is tied up. Behind him are marigold garlands, a brightly patterned cloth, golden temple fittings and a gold-embroidered altar. A person in orange is partly visible at the right edge. Ritual context suggests puja or darshan seva.2019-02-17Photo 11709769A photograph of a homa ritual at an open-sided temple structure with gold and red draped cloth.
