A central man in a white shirt and light trousers walks barefoot across the sand toward a small white stone shrine with a tall golden kalasha finial. Around him, people in white dress stand in two rows holding colourful umbrellas with red, blue, orange and yellow panels and tassels, and some hold small cymbals or bells. Several men and a few women in white clothes with orange shawls walk in a group. Ornate parasols with colourful fringed canopies, decorated with bird motifs, are carried above them. Men in the front hold tall silver staffs, and one figure at the left carries a lit torch. Women in white saris with gold borders and rudraksha-style necklaces hold trays of flowers and garlands, one with palms pressed together in greeting. Men in white shirts and dhotis walk beside them, and two large ornate decorated umbrellas with red and gold fringed canopies are carried in the background. A red banner hangs across the scene, and a few other people stand near the lights. This matches a welcoming procession of attendants rather than a specific named ceremony.2006-11-24
