A photograph of a homa ritual at an indoor pujari setting. A priest in saffron-orange dhoti and matching shawl, wearing a rudraksha-style beaded mala and gold necklace, sits cross-legged before a square yellow-rimmed fire pit (kunda) and reads from open books while speaking into a microphone. He pours from a brass bowl into the pit. Around him, brass plates hold bananas, mangoes, flowers, coconut and sticks. Brass oil lamps burn, and on the right are cones of turmeric-yellow ritual offerings in netting on banana leaves. Two seated men in white with orange shawls sit to the left, and a few more people are partly visible at the top and right. A portrait-style presentation is not shown.2012-10-18September 03 20162016-09-03 +1 copiesA photograph of a fire-pit homa ritual. A person in a saffron-orange robe and matching orange head covering sits cross-legged at the right of the frame, holding a hand over a tray of offerings and flowers while seated beside a silver-coloured lamp and brass vessels. Two attendants in white clothing with yellow shoulder cloths sit at the left edge. Behind them, a table draped in white cloth holds gold-coloured kalasha pots decorated with green leaves, and a red and gold parasol-like canopy stands above. Marigold and rose petals are scattered on the steps in front of the altar. The orange-robed figure's face is partly turned, and no caption names this person, so a person is set to unsure.2009-09-26December 23 20102010-12-23A shaved-headed man in a rust-red and saffron-bordered dhoti sits cross-legged on a stone floor, bare-chested with a rudraksha mala, performing a puja with his hands over a brass kalasha and bowls. Yellow marigold garlands drape the brass oil lamps beside him, and red flowers and sliced watermelon lie in the foreground. Behind him, a figure in a rust-red robe with a gold-trimmed shawl and rudraksha mala sits in an orange chair, and other women in orange and rust saris stand nearby. A golden chariot or ratha is visible at right. The scene resembles a ritual offering in an outdoor ceremony area.2014-10-02A seated priest in orange robes with an orange headcloth and a beaded necklace performs a ritual at an outdoor altar, holding his hands together over a tray of flower petals. Beside him a younger man in white garments with a yellow cloth sits on the ground. Brass pots filled with green leaves sit on a draped white table behind, under a red and gold embroidered canopy. A silver oil lamp stands at right on a white stepped platform scattered with marigolds and pink petals, with a small ganesha figure and brass vessels nearby. The scene appears to be a puja or homa at an open courtyard with banana leaves and a potted plant.2009-09-26November 06 20112011-11-06A homa fire ritual on a striped rug in an outdoor courtyard. A bearded man with a red-orange turban, orange cloth and rudraksha malas kneels at a square yellow brick fire pit, pouring from a metal ladle into the flames, while a younger priest in a black turban and orange cloth sits beside him. Both have white ash markings on their bodies. Offerings surround the pit: a bowl of pink flower petals, a plate of grains, metal bowls, a silver kalasha-style vessel, fruit, banana leaves and coconuts decorated with flowers. Another person sits in the background, and a red cushioned seat is visible at the upper right.2018-04-26 +1 copiesA photograph of a homa ritual.
