A woman in an orange silk sari with a red-bordered green detail and a red rudraksha mala serves white rice cakes onto a steel plate from a large brass-rimmed steel vessel at what appears to be a communal food service. She has a white vertical tilak on her forehead and a red dot between her brows, with a silver pendant and silver earrings. Beside her a woman in a cream blouse wears a dark red rudraksha mala. Behind them, people in white and light-coloured clothing hold plates, and a pink water bottle sits on the counter alongside brass-handled pots of food.

A photograph of a food-service line at an ashram-style event. In the foreground a woman in a mustard-gold saree with a gold floral border wears a white disposable hairnet and clear plastic gloves and serves food with a metal ladle from a copper pot. Behind her, another woman in orange robes wearing gloves and a hairnet works at the same counter, and a third person in a white hairnet is partly visible. Brass stands and trays hold orange-cut fruit and food.

Three people kneel on a purple and red patterned mat preparing a yellow paste in a large steel bowl. A woman in a rust-red sari on the left scoops the paste with her bare hands while a woman in a cream and gold saree and white hairnet pours from a steel pot. On the right, a man with short hair and a beard wears saffron-orange robes, rudraksha malas and a bead bracelet, reaching into the bowl. Orange-robed figures and a flat-screen monitor stand in the background.

A photograph of a ritual food offering in a temple-like hall. A large silver bowl holds cooked yellow rice with vegetables. A woman in an orange-brown sari with rudraksha mala kneels at left, scooping the rice, while a woman in white and gold kasavu-style dress with a hairnet and forehead tilak watches beside her. At right, a white-haired woman in orange robes and a rudraksha mala kneels, cupping rice in her hands, and a younger woman in orange stands at far right wearing rudraksha beads. Other saffron-robed devotees stand in the background near a monitor and tripod.

A buffet-style meal service in a bright hall with pale walls and framed portraits on the wall behind. A woman in a white hairnet and clear gloves, wearing a white top and tan shawl, ladles food from a steel pot. A young woman in a mustard-yellow kurta with a rudraksha-style beaded mala holds a plate of vegetables and rice. Beside her, a woman in a plaid shirt with glasses serves food, and a blonde woman in a dark top watches. Men in tan robes and a bearded man in a hairnet stand at left. Steel pots and serving dishes sit on the table. Pale red curtains frame the windows.

Photograph of a seated offering scene on a patterned mat. A woman in a rust-brown sari with a rudraksha mala and gold bangles presses a handful of yellow food onto the outstretched hands of a young boy in saffron cloth, bare-shouldered with a beaded necklace and glasses. A silver bowl heaped with yellow rice sits in front. Behind them a woman in a white sari with gold border and a hairnet holds a small bowl, and a woman in saffron with a rudraksha mala, hands joined in namaste, watches. Figures in saffron stand in the background.

Indoor ritual food preparation or distribution. A woman in a brown-red sari with a rudraksha mala kneels on the left, stirring a large silver bowl of yellow rice with a ladle. Beside her, a woman in a white and cream sari with a white head covering and disposable gloves kneels and reaches toward the bowl. On the right, a man with long dark hair and a bare chest, wearing an orange cloth, holds a handful of yellow rice. Behind him, women in orange garments and jewelry stand. A purple and striped mat covers the floor, with cables visible.

A photograph of ashram women in orange and red sannyasini-style saris with rudraksha malas, preparing food offerings during a ritual. In the centre a smiling woman with hair in a bun and white vertical tilak with a red bindi holds a mound of pale yellow food in both hands. Beside her a woman in orange with a red border holds a similar lump of food, and another woman at left, also in orange, shapes food with her fingers. Behind them other devotees in orange stand in a hall with red curtains.

A photograph of women serving food in an indoor hall with wooden flooring and cream-coloured walls. Several women wear orange shawls over white or pastel tops, and some wear plastic gloves. A large steel pot of rice sits on a red-covered table, and a woman in the foreground with white hair and an orange shawl holds a steel plate of rice. Other women hold ladles, bowls and steel trays, and a large window with cream vertical blinds lines the right side. The scene looks like a communal kitchen service, possibly annadan.
