Night-time outdoor abhishekam under a tent in light rain. A bare-chested man in a white dhoti with blue border and a yellow upper cloth raises green leaves in one hand while holding a clear glass jar of offering; his arm is raised overhead. Around him many shirtless men in white dhotis sit or stand, some with folded hands. A bearded man with long hair sits in the foreground. Behind them a golden bull and a red-and-gold deity murti stand against dark red drapes, with a speaker and tent poles above. Visible people number roughly 20-30.2016-12-02March 05 20162016-03-05 +2 copiesA standing priest in an orange-saffron shawl over white dhoti holds a leafy green branch aloft in his raised right arm and cradles a white netted kalasha pot in his left hand. He wears a beaded necklace and sandalwood-coloured body. Behind him, a large seated audience dressed in white sits on the floor of a hall with pale walls, framed pictures and a red light. The scene suggests a ritual purification or abhishekam being performed for the gathered devotees.2016-03-05 +1 copiesMarch 05 20162016-03-05 +1 copiesJanuary 30 20162016-01-30February 26 20172017-02-26A night-time photograph of a ritual at an outdoor pavilion. In the foreground a bare-chested man in an orange cloth draped over his shoulder holds a white woven-wrapped pot in his left hand and sprinkles water from a bundle of green mango or leafy twigs held in his raised right arm, sending a spray of droplets through the air. Behind him a large seated crowd of men in white dhotis and white shawls, many bare-chested with sacred threads and beaded necklaces, sits on the ground. Bright floodlights and metal fencing frame the scene under a canopy.2017-08-07A bare-chested priest in a yellow dhoti with green and red patterned border stands at a ritual site, sprinkling water from a green leaf dipped into a brass pot toward golden deity murti and ornate gold arches. Seated devotees in the foreground, including a woman in white, watch the abhishekam-style water offering under a white canopy with colourful decorations behind. The scene is a temple ritual setting.2016-12-12May 06 20162016-05-06A large crowd of men in white dhotis and white shirts sits packed together in a hall. In the centre, a shaved-headed priest wearing an orange-red garment with gold-yellow borders stands with his back to the camera, one arm raised high and holding a bundle of green leaves as he sprinkles water or offerings over the seated devotees. Several other priests in white dhotis with yellow borders, some holding small books, stand among the crowd. Behind them hangs a large framed portrait of a seated figure in red robes with a rudraksha mala, and framed photographs decorate the wall at upper right. The scene appears to be a ritual blessing during a gathering.2015-11-24August 22 20172017-08-22January 01 20162016-01-01
