Outdoors in a stepped water tank, a figure in an ornate gold throne with red cushions sits above the water, wearing orange robes and layered garlands of white, orange and red flowers. The throne is decorated with marigolds, palm fronds and floral swags, and a golden trident stands at each side. Around it, many people wade and stand waist-deep in the water: white-clad devotees, men in orange and saffron robes, and a few shaved-headed priests in orange. Some hold brass kalasha pots and lift offerings, and a spray of water rises at the left edge. This appears to be a holy dip ceremony, with the seated figure carried on a decorated raft-like platform through the sacred water.
