A photograph of a ritual at night showing a large flame rising from a brass vessel or lamp placed in front of a figure draped in white, red and green cloth. The figure's head and shoulders are covered with garlands of white flowers, marigolds and green leaves. A bare arm with a bangle reaches toward the flame. A hanging brass oil lamp with a lit wick and a second lamp glow in the background against a grey stone wall. The scene suggests a homa or fire ritual, though only the flame, offerings and garlanded figure are clearly visible. The figure's face is not visible, so no identification is made.2012-05-18A man seated on an ornate red and gold throne performs a fire ritual at night, with his palms pressed together in namaste before a large flame. He is bare-chested with a red tilak on his forehead, wearing a rudraksha mala and a gold-trimmed yellow cloth draped at his waist. In front of him a brass bowl rests on a golden platform beside the fire, with a dark textured cloth and an oil lamp at the left edge. Garlands of yellow flowers hang at the upper right beside an orange curtain.2013-10-13April 14 20182018-04-14April 14 20182018-04-14April 03 20162016-04-03March 02 20182018-03-02 +1 copiesApril 14 20182018-04-14February 07 20162016-02-07April 14 20182018-04-14Photograph of a camphor flame burning above a silver tray of flowers and white offerings on a gold-edged table, during an aarti in a temple setting. Two men in saffron-orange robes stand behind the flame: the one on the left has bare arms and bare chest with multiple rudraksha malas and a large gold pendant, the one on the right wears a long rudraksha mala, gold garlands and folds his hands in namaskar with a red-tilak, red-banded headband. Behind them a younger man in white dhoti and shawl with a gold border and a mala stands on the right. Golden ritual objects and a brass lamp are visible.2012-06-05Close photo of a fire pit at night, with tall orange flames and smoke rising from a dark stone or brick hearth. Flowers in red, pink, orange and yellow lie on the hearth beside the flames, and a metal vessel sits at the right edge. A partially visible hand appears at the top right. No people are clearly visible apart from that hand, and no one can be identified in the frame. Consistent with a homa or fire offering.2018-01-06A homa fire ritual at night in a crowded outdoor gathering, with a square brick fire pit ringed by yellow marigold garlands and flames rising from it. A bearded man in orange-saffron cloth and a red-and-white rudraksha mala on the right holds an raised ritual vessel with a burning flame and speaks into a microphone. Beside the fire, a bare-chested man in white dhoti with a gold-and-beaded necklace sits cross-legged. Behind them, rows of seated participants in white kurtas wear lanyards and some raise hands in prayer. A silver bowl of grains sits at left. Smoke drifts through blue-lit air.2015-12-11
