January 06 20122012-01-06A photograph at the entrance of a colourful temple shrine with pink and green painted pillars. Through the open doorway, a deity murti sits in a golden arched niche decorated with flower garlands, and a figure in white stands inside near the shrine. In the foreground on the left, a person in a saffron-orange wrap with a rudraksha mala and bangles faces the doorway, back to the camera. On the right, a man in a white shirt and white trousers with a red tilak on his forehead gestures with his hands while speaking.2012-01-06January 06 20122012-01-06January 06 20122012-01-06A dimly lit temple interior where a man in an orange-red saffron cloth and a rudraksha mala holds a brass plate with a lit oil lamp in his right hand, lowering it toward a shrine. Two men in white shirts and white dhotis stand beside him, one with a pen in his pocket, and a third man in pale clothing is partly visible at the left edge. A small pile of white flowers rests on the floor, and a gilded deity murti sits within an arched shrine framed by pink-and-gold decorated pillars. The scene suggests aarti at a temple shrine.2012-01-06June 04 20122012-06-04A photograph inside a temple shrine during an aarti. A shaven-headed priest in an orange saffron shawl with gold border stands at centre, looking down at a lit oil lamp held over a small deity murti dressed in white with garlands and a gold arch behind it. Men in white dhotis and a man in a white shirt and khaki uniform stand around the shrine. Oil lamps burn on a ledge and framed paintings of figures hang on the back wall. Five to six people are visible; the figure in orange is shown without a clear appearance match for a person, so the role is described as priest.2012-06-05A photograph inside a narrow stone temple passage at Kanchanoor temple, with worn dark stone walls and a tiled floor. In the foreground a bald man in orange robes and a rudraksha-style bead necklace stands with a folded orange cloth in his hand, a young man in an orange-maroon dhoti with a pink garland beside him. Further back a man in white dhoti holds a brass tray of offerings toward a lit inner shrine with oil lamps. An older man in a white shirt and white dhoti stands at the right edge. The image is a photo of a temple visit. Several people in the passage are visible, mostly partially, with the foreground figures in clear view.2012-05-16A temple sanctum interior during a lamp-lit worship. In the foreground a shaven-headed man in orange-saffron robes and a rudraksha mala stands with his back to the camera, watching. Beside him a woman in orange sari stands near a golden-draped deity murti with lit oil lamps around it. A bare-chested priest in a white dhoti with a coloured border, and a second man in white dhoti, tend the shrine. A circular lamp glows in the doorway behind them, and a red-and-gold canopy edges the top left. Dark stone walls surround the scene.2012-05-29 +1 copiesA photograph inside a dim temple shrine doorway where priests perform a puja before a deity murti draped in red cloth. A bright ceremonial oil lamp with a circular flame arrangement is lit above the altar, with additional flames and lamps at the base. In the foreground, a man with a shaved head wears an orange saffron robe and a rudraksha-style bead necklace and stands with his back to the camera. Beside the altar, a figure in orange robes stands at the shrine. Three men on the right, bare-chested and wearing white dhotis with coloured borders, stand in attendance, one holding a brass vessel. Brass lamps and ritual implements sit on a ledge to the right. The room is dark with grey stone walls.2012-05-29 +1 copiesNovember 25 20062006-11-25A photograph inside a dim stone temple shrine. In the centre, a bare-chested man in orange dhoti and shawl, wearing a rudraksha mala, a thick gold ceremonial necklace and a flower headband, raises his hands above his head in reverent namaskar beside a small shrine enclosure with a lit oil lamp. To his left, a younger man in orange with a gold necklace and headband presses his palms together and smiles. Behind them, several men in white dhotis and shirts and bare-chested devotees stand with folded hands along a rough stone wall. A partial shape of a woman's head is visible at the lower edge. Probable Swamiji (probable) is the bare-chested man with a gold necklace, long swept-back hair replaced by a headband, and ornate orange clothing, performing worship at the shrine.2012-05-16 +1 copies
