A large crowd of devotees stands waist-deep in the water of a red-stepped tank, Vaidya Sarovar, for a holy dip. Most wear white ritual clothes, while some women wear saffron, orange, green and yellow saris. Several men in the centre hold up brass kalasha pots and small ceremonial vessels above their heads, and people with raised hands surround them. Red brick steps rise behind the water, and a fountain jet spurts at the right edge. The crowd is far too large to count precisely.
