A crowded indoor photo of a ceremonial gathering. At the centre, a seated figure in a white turban and leopard-print jacket sits on a decorated throne-like seat with a cream and gold cushion, garlanded with red, yellow and white flowers, beneath a multicoloured fringed canopy. Around them, people in white dhotis and shirts stand and bow, some with hands folded. On the right, a man in a saffron-orange garment and rudraksha-style beads stands near the throne, and a bald man in white stands nearby. Foreground devotees in white saris and a woman in a bright green shawl lean forward. Pale walls are lit with small lamps set in niches.2010-12-29December 30 20062006-12-30December 30 20062006-12-30Night procession at a temple-style festival with a richly decorated ratha or palanquin draped in marigold and orange garlands, white flower strands and tassels under an ornate canopy. Men in white dhotis with gold borders and saffron-robed priests walk alongside, many with hands folded in namaskar, while a large crowd of devotees lines both sides under string lights. A photographer in a white shirt stands in the foreground.2016-03-07December 30 20062006-12-30A photograph of a padapuja in a temple hall at night. A man in white ritual clothes bends forward to wash the feet of a seated figure on an ornate gold-and-red throne, its back and sides heavily draped with white and yellow flower garlands. The seated figure wears saffron/orange robes and red and white garlands, and smiles with raised hand. A woman in a white sari with a striped border stands with palms pressed together. Beside the throne, a man in an orange shawl and white dhoti stands with palms joined. Behind them a seated and standing crowd, several women in white saris, and orange-draped devotees fill the hall, with red and orange pennants strung along the roof and a brass lamp at the base of the throne.2006-12-30Night photo of a ritual at an outdoor pavilion with gold drapes and a gold canopy overhead. A seated man in red and gold clothing, wearing layered garlands of flowers and a gold chain, sits on a gold throne. Before him, an older priest in white dhoti and shawl, with white markings on his arms, bows and touches his feet. Around them stand devotees: men in orange and saffron garments, women in orange, maroon and white saris with garlands, and a young man with white facial markings. Two white pots and a small offering of flowers sit on the floor. The seated figure is an appearance-based a person candidate only partially supported by visible cues, so the identity remains uncertain.2017-07-08December 30 20062006-12-30A photograph taken at night under a corrugated metal roof decorated with orange triangular bunting.
