Devotees stand waist-deep in the reddish-brown water of a temple tank, a holy dip at Vaidya Sarovar, with stone steps behind them crowded with onlookers. Most wear white dhotis, sarees and shirts, and several carry small brass or silver ritual trays with orange and white offerings and lamps. A man in a maroon robe stands in the middle of the line holding a tray, and a bald man in a white shirt and dhoti on the steps near the right points toward the water. Many participants wear lanyards, and a few women wear orange or yellow dupattas. The scene is a river-side ritual with many people in the frame.
