Smoke rises. An ornate bronze arch frames a metal deity murti dressed with white flower garlands, a crown and a sword, set against magenta silk drapery. A brass oil lamp stands in front, with coconut and leaf offerings at the base. Two shaven-headed devotees sit in the foreground with their backs to the camera.2013-04-29May 11 20132013-05-11June 04 20152015-06-04A man in a saffron-orange ritual garment performs an aarti with a silver lamp holding several burning wicks, the flames glowing in front of him. He is bare-chested with a sheer orange shawl draped over one shoulder, wearing long rudraksha malas across the chest, bangles and rudraksha bands on his arms, and gold-rimmed glasses, and his head is shaved. Behind him stand a red and gold ornate throne and a figure in red and white robes beside flower garlands, in a warm-lit temple-like room. Appearance-based candidate for a person: his saffron clothing, extensive rudraksha malas and ceremonial adornments are the cues, and he is the one performing the aarti.2015-04-30January 02 20162016-01-02February 19 20152015-02-19 +1 copiesA photograph of a temple puja inside a shrine hall. A shaved-headed priest in an orange saffron garment with a gold chain and white ash markings on his arms raises a multi-tier silver aarti lamp with lit oil wicks toward deities decorated with garlands in yellow, orange and red. A golden bull statue and a painted blue and orange temple pillar stand behind him. A woman in an orange sari with folded hands stands at left beside a microphone stand. The scene shows aarti being performed as part of a pada-puja.2011-12-14November 16 20152015-11-16April 30 20152015-04-30August 08 20142014-08-08
