December 29 20082008-12-29A photograph of a long-haired figure in a flowing saffron-orange robe standing barefoot on a white-walled circular platform, leaning with one hand against the thick trunk of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots. A garland of yellow and purple flowers hangs on the trunk at left. Dry dirt ground and a white boundary wall are visible behind, with a small grey pole and a palm tree in the background. The figure has long dark hair and a thin gold necklace; the saffron robe and long hair are the appearance cues, and the page names Swamiji at this event but the face is not used. Swamiji (probable) in the sense of an appearance-based candidate with multiple cues: long swept hair, saffron clothing and a gold necklace.2010-02-12A man with long, swept-back black hair and a small red tilak on his forehead stands with eyes closed, leaning his face and one hand against a large tree trunk. He wears a sleeveless saffron-orange garment draped over the shoulder and a long garland of purple and white orchid flowers. Green leaves and sky are visible behind him, and a fence lies at the lower left.2008-12-31December 28 20082008-12-28 +1 copiesA photograph of a single man standing barefoot in an outdoor setting beside a large banyan tree with many aerial roots. He wears an orange-red saffron cloth draped over his body and a long garland of yellow, red and green flowers around his neck. His eyes are closed and his head is bowed against the tree trunk in a devotional gesture. The ground is dirt with rocks and dappled shade from the canopy, with trees and greenery in the background.2007-12-22A photograph of a single person in an outdoor ashram setting standing barefoot beside a large banyan tree whose trunk and aerial roots are draped with white jasmine garlands and pink flower strands. The person wears an orange-saffron turban, an orange sleeveless robe and a white and red flower garland around the neck, and leans forward with one hand resting on the trunk, head bowed. Scattered flower petals lie on the red earth around the tree, and a white-painted curved stone border with white kolam designs and striped mats sit nearby. Cues for an appearance-based candidate are limited to the orange turban and saffron robe, so identity remains uncertain; the person is described by role as a devotee at the tree.2008-07-17August 08 20102010-08-08 +1 copiesA photograph of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots, set on a sandy courtyard with a low white-painted platform around its base. A standing figure in an orange sleeveless top and orange dhoti, with long dark hair, wears a multicoloured flower garland of red, yellow, white and purple blooms and faces the trunk with head bowed. Two similar flower garlands hang from roots at left, and a person in orange clothing is partially visible at the lower left edge, tending offerings. Swamiji (probable): the standing figure has long swept-back hair and saffron ceremonial clothing with a garland, consistent with a sannyasi performing worship at the sacred tree.2009-12-23June 15 20092009-06-15A photograph of a single man standing barefoot on a curved white-painted platform beside a large old banyan tree with thick aerial roots. He wears a flowing saffron-orange robe draped over one shoulder and has long dark hair, a rudraksha-style necklace visible at his neck, and he leans forward with one hand resting against the trunk. A strand of yellow and magenta marigold garland hangs on the left edge near the base of the tree. The setting is an open dusty courtyard with white walls and a few pillars in the background. Swamiji (probable) is shown in appearance: long swept-back hair, saffron robe and a rudraksha-style necklace, though the candidate is not clearly identifiable.2010-02-12April 21 20132013-04-21A man with long, swept-back black hair and a vertical white tilak with a red dot on his forehead stands in profile, eyes closed, leaning his cheek and one hand against the smooth grey trunk of a large banyan-type tree. He wears a sleeveless orange saffron garment and a long purple and white orchid garland around his neck. Green leaves and bright sky fill the background.2008-12-31
