A seated group of ashram students and priests performs a ritual chanting session in a hall. In the foreground a bald man in an orange saffron robe with a rudraksha mala and bright white forehead and arm markings holds a small brass bell and leads the recitation with an open mouth. Beside him a man in white dhoti and shawl with a red rudraksha mala and white horizontal tilak holds a bell. Behind them rows of boys in maroon-and-gold shawls with white tilak lines sit cross-legged, several holding small brass bells and a brass lamp and offering plates lie on a cloth. Adults in white and orange are seated among the crowd in the background, which is lit by oil lamps and pillars.2013-01-03A photograph of a group ritual with many seated participants holding small oil lamps lit with flames. Foreground boys wear maroon sleeveless vests with gold trim and white forehead tilaka marks, and one wears glasses. Adult men in orange saffron cloth with rudraksha malas raise lamps, one with a bare upper torso and gold arm ornaments. Behind them men wear white kurtas with orange lanyards. The setting appears to be a satsang-style gathering with brass vessels on the floor. No clearly identifiable a person figure is visible, so no candidate is marked as present.2013-03-20November 07 20112011-11-07A photograph of a ritual scene with several saffron-clad sannyasis seated on red mats in front of a seated audience. The man on the left wears a deep orange-red cloth and a long rudraksha mala. The man on the right wears orange robes and holds a small lamp with a bell in the other hand. Behind them, devotees in white clothes sit with palms pressed together, and a man in a red shawl sits among them. Several have white and ash tilaka markings on their foreheads and rudraksha malas around their necks. Behind them, a large crowd of seated boys and men in white and striped clothing fills the hall, with more lamps on the floor in front. The scene suggests an aarti or lamp-lighting ceremony.
