April 22 20142014-04-22Devotees sit and stand on wide stone ghat steps in Varanasi at dusk, with old multi-storey buildings, a small orange-topped temple spire and a lamp on a pole behind them. A man in white kurta and white trousers stands in the centre holding a phone. Several women and young people in saffron and rust-red robes sit on the steps, one in a red shawl near the left and others in orange and maroon garments. A red banner and Devanagari signage appear on the walls, and onlookers stand along the right edge.2014-05-21January 09 20062006-01-09Outdoor photo on the steps and riverbank of a ghat beside a wide river in Varanasi, under hazy morning light. A large crowd of devotees sits in rows on the stone steps, many in white clothes, with some in orange and in colourful saris and kurtas. In the foreground a man in a khaki sun hat and white shirt sits near a woman in a dark top. Along the shore, several standing people in casual and traditional clothing look toward the water, and small boats rest on the sand. Old multi-storey buildings line the far bank. A metal container sits in the boat's centre.
