February 02 20142014-02-02Outdoor photo of a procession on a dirt path strewn with orange marigold petals in front of a small white building with a corrugated roof and orange-and-green floral decorations over its doorway. At centre, a long-haired man in saffron-orange robes wears a white and orange flower garland and walks barefoot, smiling. Beside him, a woman in an orange sari with a shawl walks, and men in white dhotis and shirts escort the group. A man in white on the right and another in white on the left carry a potted sapling. Palm trees, shrubs with red flowers, and a fence fill the background.2010-02-18Photo 11726820July 29 20082008-07-29July 29 20082008-07-29April 30 20122012-04-30 +2 copiesA large outdoor gathering of devotees seated and standing with palms pressed together in namaste. In the foreground, four saffron-robed sannyasis sit in prayer; the centre-front figure has a white forehead band and long dark hair, wears heavy gold beaded necklaces and a rudraksha mala, and holds his hands folded. Behind them, many devotees wear white clothes with yellow shawls and rudraksha malas, and women wear saris and salwar kameez. A bald man with a white beard and glasses sits among them. Marigold and flower offerings lie on the ground at the lower left. The scene appears to be a ritual gathering with devotees in prayer.2010-01-08July 29 20082008-07-29A photograph of an evening crowd gathered at a temple entrance decorated with banana plants and red-and-white striped poles. At centre, a smiling man wears an orange turban, orange shawl and a long rudraksha mala, with a bare upper chest visible. Around him stand devotees in white kurta-style clothing, one woman in a red sari at the back, and others in light shirts and salwar. The man's orange and rudraksha cues are distinctive, though the setting is an ordinary group greeting, so identity remains uncertain. A small purple logo appears at the upper left.2003-04-11Outdoor ritual gathering in a courtyard with a seated priest in white dhoti and shawl with gold border, back to the camera, performing a ceremony at a low stone platform. Offerings are arranged in front of him: flower garlands with marigolds, brass and silver pots and lamps, banana leaves, a small bowl of food and a tray of dried twigs. Around him sit about forty devotees on chairs and mats, many in orange or saffron shawls, white kurtas and white clothing, with several women in colourful saris and salwar. A tripod-mounted camera stands at left and a red brick pillar appears at the top left.2012-04-30October 27 20082008-10-27Outdoor photograph on a tree-lined path with a crowd of men and women in white dhotis, white shirts and saffron-coloured robes. At left, a man with a saffron-orange turban and long dark hair presses his palms together in greeting and smiles. Beside him, a man in a red shirt with a blue rosette badge walks along, and a man with long hair and a beard wears an orange robe with a rudraksha mala and joins his hands. On the right, several women in white and cream saris with gold bangles stand with palms pressed together, and a woman holds up a silver vessel. A white-draped table holds a brass bowl of green leaves, a flower garland and a small silver dish.2005-12-02
