Rows of women and girls in saffron-orange clothing and rudraksha malas sit cross-legged on silver-coloured low platforms. Each platform holds steel bowls, a brass cup, a small brass lamp with a lit flame, brass incense or pooja vessels, and scattered red flower petals. Several participants raise incense sticks or small items with their hands, and some have white sacred ash marks on their foreheads. Two dark-robed women sit at the left edge, and a steel vessel sits in the foreground. Visible people number about 20 to 30.2013-12-02A large group of women seated on the floor in a hall with red curtains, dressed in orange and saffron saris with rudraksha malas and white forehead markings. Many hold lit oil lamps or brass aarti/puja plates with flowers, kumkum and small brass vessels arranged on metal trays in front of them. A few older women in deep red saris lead the rite, one with grey hair holding a lamp. The scene appears to be a group puja or aarti being performed in a sanctum-style hall. Roughly thirty people are visible.2014-02-03
