A gold-lettered signboard reads MADURAI AADHEENAM in Tamil and English, hung with green leaf strands. Above the entrance, painted sculptural niches show deity murtis including a seated figure on a white bull and a multi-armed deity beside it, with peacock and lion figures in the ornamentation. Shop signs and wires run across the street frontage. No people are visible.2012-06-04A close photograph of a weathered wooden signboard mounted on a dark, peeling wall of a temple. The board has a deep red and gold background with a shivalinga illustration on the left and a small gilded deity shrine image on the right. The text identifies the shrine as Sri Marakathavalli Mukteeswarar Thirukkoyil, under the Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple. No people are visible; the sign is the sole subject.2009-08-31Photo 11742248A photograph of a temple entrance with a tall ornate doorway, a carved wooden or metal gate and pillars. Green leaf garlands hang on the gate. Several people in white and orange-saffron clothes stand in front of the doorway, some with shaved heads, one with an orange shawl. A signboard above the entrance shows Tamil lettering. The scene appears to be a temple darshan or puja at a shrine entrance.2012-08-20August 20 20122012-08-20 +1 copiesStreet photograph of the facade of the Madurai Aadheenam building with its ornate pale-yellow stucco, arched niches and sculpted deity figures, including a multi-armed goddess and a figure on a bull over the entrance. A blue-gated doorway below a signboard reading Madurai Aadheenam leads inside. In front, several motorcycles and scooters are parked on a dusty street beside shops selling jewellery, and a blurred motorcyclist in a helmet passes in the foreground. A man in a white shirt stands in the doorway holding a camera. Two other people are partly visible at the left edge, one in a red shirt and a head wrap.2012-04-11
