In the centre, a gold-and-striped ornate ratha or palanquin-like structure stands on a red-draped platform in the water, with several figures seated on it. Hundreds of spectators fill the tiered red seating on the right and back, while in the foreground many men, some bare-chested and some in white, sit on the steps with black cushions beside a wooden railing, with white flowering branches at the left edge. Some people hold their hands together in devotion. The setting and gathering suggest a ritual event, with the central figures too small and distant to identify.2016-12-03December 03 20162016-12-03Wide view of a large outdoor amphitheatre ceremony beside a water tank, with a central raised red-draped platform and a tall golden ornate ceremonial structure rising behind it. Hundreds of seated devotees fill the tiered stone steps and banks, many in white and orange clothing, some bare-chested in white dhotis. Rows of black stone lingam-shaped shivalingams line the front steps in the foreground, and orange flags stand along the edges. The platform is occupied by ritual participants, with no clearly identifiable individual leader visible at this distance.2016-12-03Wide view of an outdoor amphitheatre-style ritual pool at a large gathering.
