The seated figure wears an orange-saffron garment, a red and white floral garland and an orange shawl. Around the throne, many men stand waist-deep in water: most wear white dhotis and white shirts with yellow sacred threads, several bare-chested, some in saffron or orange robes, and a few in purple or red. Many have shaved heads. Flower-decked idols and additional garlanded figures stand to the left, and a few onlookers watch from the steps and banks. The scene appears to be a ritual procession or bathing ceremony in water.2010-10-172010 - Photo AlbumJuly 15 20112011-07-15A floral-decorated float (ratha) carrying a seated figure in orange robes with a red cushion and gold throne moves through shallow water in front of tiered red stone steps lined with black pillar-like stands. The float is draped with white and orange-red garlands, a yellow fringed canopy overhead, and a yellow-and-red circular flower motif on the backdrop. A figure with long dark hair and a red garland, holding a microphone, sits on the throne. Around the float, many men in white dhotis and white shirts, some wearing yellow shawls and rudraksha malas, wade through the water escorting it. One figure in the foreground wears a white wrap and a rudraksha mala. This appears to be a procession during the Dasara celebrations.2010-10-17A night-time outdoor ritual photograph. A woman in an orange sari sits on an ornate gold-and-red throne-like seat under a red canopy with decorative fringe, pouring liquid from a metal vessel. Beside her, an ornate gold chair holds a small figure. A crowd of devotees in white and orange clothing stands and sits around the platform, some holding up a tall red-and-gold ceremonial banner-pole, and a woman in the foreground in orange holds a small plate or offering. The scene appears to be a water-side or shore ritual with the dark water visible at the bottom.2005-05-25A photograph of a water procession at a temple tank with striped white and red steps lined with spectators. A decorated palanquin or throne-like platform covered in flower garlands and banana leaves is carried through shallow water. A seated figure in a red and gold garment sits at the centre, with a golden canopy and colourful ornamental umbrellas with fringes above. Men in white dhotis and orange cloth stand in the water around it, some holding the poles, while others in white and red shawls and orange robes wade alongside. Many devotees with folded hands and raised hands fill the steps and water.2009-02-23October 17 20102010-10-17June 05 20122012-06-05 +1 copies
