December 23 20182018-12-23A photograph of an abhishekam being performed on a standing statue of a male figure with a raised right hand in abhaya mudra. The statue is bathed in milk or a white liquid poured from a golden kalasha held by a hand with a gold bangle at the left edge of the frame. The figure wears a dhoti-style lower garment and is bare-chested, with a smiling face and dark-outlined eyes. Red flower offerings lie at its feet on a gold-bordered pedestal. Behind it are garlands of yellow and purple flowers, a purple drape, and a saffron-clad figure in the background. The statue is a depiction, not a living person.2010-12-19October 07 20112011-10-07December 19 20102010-12-19A photograph of a standing statue being bathed with milk during an abhishekam. The white-coated statue wears a draped dhoti-style cloth and raises one hand in a blessing gesture, its feet adorned with red flowers on a golden base. A pair of hands from the left pours milk from a gold vessel over its head, and milk streams down the body. Behind it are purple and gold cloth hangings and yellow marigold garlands, with a figure in orange robes partly visible. The statue depicts a figure in a pose similar to a sannyasi, not a clearly identifiable person.2010-12-19Close photo of an abhishekam being performed on a small metal deity murti with four arms, holding a sword and other implements, draped in a pink cloth. A pair of hands tips a polished brass pot, pouring white liquid over the murti, which sits on a gold-trimmed tray. Behind is a figure in orange robes with a yellow shawl bordered in red and gold, appearing to be a sannyasi performing the ritual. Liquid splashes around the murti.2010-07-21December 23 20182018-12-23December 20 20112011-12-20December 15 20182018-12-15December 23 20182018-12-23September 19 20112011-09-19December 19 20102010-12-19
