Rare archival collectionClose photo of a man's bare feet and white dhoti with a maroon border, kneeling on dusty red-brown earth beside a large weathered metal object lying on the ground. The object, smeared with red and orange pigment, appears to be a damaged or broken murti-like form with a cylindrical shaft extending to both sides, resting on the soil. Brass or copper pieces are visible at the upper left edge. No face is visible.2009-09-06A photograph of an open brick-lined furnace set into dirt ground, glowing bright red-orange inside with a clay crucible sitting in the fire and rising smoke. The image appears to show metal being melted for casting work.Close-up photo of a person's hand and forearm in a saffron-orange cloth sleeve reaching into an ornate silver-rimmed bowl filled with a yellow-green cooked mixture. The background is blurred warm-toned floor and a yellow object.2015-10-23A photograph of a metal casting workshop at an outdoor earthen site. A crucible glowing red-orange with molten metal sits on a clay and brick furnace, gripped by long tongs. Several workers stand around it, including a man in a blue-and-white checked lungi, and others hold open burlap sacks that frame the scene. Dirt ground, scattered charcoal and a metal rod support structure surround the furnace. Bare-footed workers and loose plaid cloth dominate the background. Visible people are workers only; no ceremony or a person candidate is present.Close photograph of many polished brass oil lamps (deepams) standing in dense rows on a surface, their wide rimmed bowls and tapered bases catching warm light and reflections. No people are visible. The lamps appear unlit and empty, arranged closely together in a temple-style setting.2011-11-14A photograph of a metalworking workshop floor with two workers. In the foreground, a person with curly dark hair and a black wristband crouches and holds a thin metal rod over a shallow round metal dish. Beside them, a second worker in a white-and-grey sleeved garment reaches in from the right, holding a tool over a wooden block with scattered metal pieces, discs and cut sheet metal around it. A long thin saw blade lies diagonally across the dirt floor, and tangled reddish and black wire or metal scraps sit at the upper left. The setting is a rough earthen floor with bare feet and sandals visible at the edges.Making Of Sacred Arts UniversityA photograph of an ornate golden-brown brass or gilt bowl resting on folded pale peach and orange silk cloth with fringed edges, set on a red and gold patterned fabric. The bowl holds small rectangular gold-toned tablets or bars and a sprig of green leaves. No people are visible; the scene appears to be a ritual offering arrangement.2019-05-18A rolled sheet of worn copper lies on a plain yellow surface, its surface mottled with orange, brown and greenish patina. Faint engraved geometric patterns of interlocking triangles and curved lines run across the metal. No people are visible. The object is shown alone against the yellow background.Close photograph of a glowing charcoal or fire pit on bare reddish earth, with orange flames and sparks rising. Two long iron tongs lie across the fire and a flat metal sheet rests in the heat at right. No people are visible.2014-08-24A close-up photograph of a metal casting in progress over an open flame. A pair of long metal tongs grips a glowing, clay-coated crucible or mould above a bright orange fire, with a flame shooting out from the joint. Smaller clay-lined vents or furnace openings glow orange in the background, set in reddish clay soil. No people are visible; the scene shows a traditional metalworking or idol-casting process.2013-07-13
