A large circular floor rangoli on a paved stone courtyard, made of coloured powders. A bright orange centre holds three white-outlined Shivalinga-style forms, one tall central lingam flanked by two smaller ones, each with horizontal white lines. A ring of lime green surrounds the centre, with dark maroon petal-shaped sections and pink and orange dots around the edge. White lotus-like outlines radiate outward across the paving. No people are visible in the scene.

A photograph of a bhumi puja ground preparation: a large square floral and grain kolam on a white cloth, decorated with yellow marigold borders, with red, orange, green and yellow powder squares arranged in a geometric mandala with a central lotus-like pattern. Yellow and white garlands hang on the right beside a pot-shaped vessel. Around the kolam sit baskets and bowls of banana, rose and flower petals, rice, donut-shaped sweets, cut vegetables and betel-type leaves, with brass plates and oil lamps at left. No people are visible; only partial white-clad legs appear at the top edge.

A floor rangoli on bare ground, arranged as a large symmetrical flower design with a central lotus-like medallion of red rose petals and green leaves, ringed by bands of yellow marigold strings. Teal-green painted petal shapes and white chalk outlines surround the centre, with scattered red petals, orange blooms and a small blue flower. No people are visible in the frame, and the design occupies the whole image.

A photograph of a square floor rangoli or kolam made of coloured powders on a grey stone floor. It has concentric borders in white, red, black and mustard yellow, with a central lotus-petal motif in red outline and teal, a black ring with a yellow centre, and a geometric grid of yellow and red blocks. Above it, two brass kalasha pots wrapped in gold-lattice metal sit on silver tray-like plates decorated with flowers and banana leaves, beside a red and gold silk cloth. No people are visible.

A photograph from above of a large square sand or powder mandala drawn on a dark floor. Concentric bands of white, maroon, black and orange form a geometric frame of rectangular blocks. At the centre sits a white eight-petalled lotst outlined in red, enclosing a black wheel with spokes and an orange hub. Silver-embossed metal panels border the top and bottom of the frame, and a red cloth is visible at the upper left. No people are visible.

A photograph of a ceremonial floor mandala, a vastu-style grid laid out on a white cloth for a bhumi puja. Coloured grains in green, yellow, orange and brown form squares and a central cross, bordered by a band of yellow marigold petals. Bananas, a leaf, a basket of flower petals, and garlands of white and red flowers sit around the edges, with a small red kumkum dish. No people are visible.
