Two bare-chested priests in the foreground, one with a shaved head, hold out a brass tray of bananas, coconut halves and betel leaves, with a small printed card on top. Around them, men in white dhotis and orange-clad people stand close, and a man with glasses in a white shirt and gold chain sits with hands pressed together. The scene suggests a puja offering with a garlanded figure receiving the tray.2006-09-24A photograph of a ritual scene at a temple. A person with long dark hair, wearing an orange-red garment and a thick garland of white jasmine and red flowers, bows forward with head lowered. Behind and above, a bare-chested priest in a cream-yellow cloth reaches over with a hand on the bowed head, while another seated priest with grey hair, a white tripundra on the forehead and rudraksha beads holds a brass tray with a small brass vessel and red-and-white offerings. Men in white dhotis and orange-clad attendants stand in the background, and a colourful striped mat lies on the floor. A framed picture of deities hangs on the wall behind. Visible people are the bowing figure, two priests, and several attendants.2009-07-13April 17 20172017-04-17A night-time ritual scene on a dark cloth mat. At right, a bare-chested, grey-bearded priest with white sacred ash on his forehead and arms and a rudraksha mala kneels, holding a brass tray of bananas and coconut halves. Standing devotees in white dhotis and cream shirts surround the group, and a person at far right wears orange cloth. The setting appears to be a temple gathering.2012-08-17A ceremonial ritual scene seated on a striped woven mat. A central figure in an orange turban and orange garments wears heavy garlands of yellow and red flowers and green leaves, and sits smiling with hands near a large offering tray. The tray holds bananas, mangoes, pink and red fruit, betel-leaf and flower arrangements. Around them, men in white dhotis and orange shawls sit or stand with palms joined; a bare-chested man with rudraksha and a shaved priest in orange and white hold the tray. A man in a white shirt and wristwatch sits in the foreground. Behind, standing devotees in white and khaki and a yellow banner with text frame the scene, consistent with a temple puja and offering ceremony.2007-01-12Photo 11734633A night-time ceremony at a temple inauguration. In the centre, a man in a maroon-red robe with a red turban and white and red flower garland receives a fruit offering. Beside him stands an attendant in a rust-brown and orange cloth with a rudraksha mala, holding a silver plate of sliced fruit and a banana. On the right, a figure with long swept-back grey hair wears a white dhoti-style cloth, a long rudraksha mala and a white sacred thread, and holds out his hand. Behind them, a golden crown-like ornament stands out, and several onlookers in white shirts and dhotis watch closely.2016-03-29
