A group of many people dressed in white sits on the ground in rows facing a shrine area. At right, a black deity murti with a saffron-orange garment and orange-tinted flower heaps stands on a circular platform, with white pillars and a white arch around it. Pot-like items and mats lie at left, and a seated figure in white is near the front of the group.2009-11-19February 16 20072007-02-16A night-time photograph at an outdoor sacred tree site beneath a large banyan tree with thick aerial roots and a spreading branch. Several men in saffron-orange robes stand on a black polished tile platform. The man in the centre wears a white shawl over his orange robe and holds a lit oil lamp in one hand, while a companion beside him has hands joined near his face. A figure at left holds a tray of flower petals and garlands. A ring of stone platform surrounds the tree trunk, which is decorated with a yellow and orange marigold garland. No clear appearance-based cues establish a specific identity for any person, so no candidate is named.2009-11-16A dimly lit temple interior with a plain grey stone platform or pedestal at centre. Many small clay oil lamps with flames sit along the steps and floor, and a brass oil lamp with a flame and yellow flowers stands in the foreground right. Behind the platform is a brass trident on a stand, a dark wooden bench, a red-painted wall, a stack of rocks and bricks, and a black pedestal fan. No people are visible.2017-10-18A ceremony on a raised stage in an ornate hall with wooden panelling and a painted backdrop of a large banyan tree beside still water at sunset. A seated figure in a saffron-orange robe sits on a golden throne with red cushions, a trident standing nearby, and yellow-orange flower garlands below. In front, a bald priest with a sacred thread wears a saffron-orange shawl and stands holding a lit multi-tier oil lamp arrangement. Around him, seated devotees in white and red-bordered saris and white dhotis sit on the floor, some holding lamps and offerings. A woman in a red blouse and white sari kneels nearby. Ornate golden deity murtis with garlands stand at the sides. The scene resembles a paada pooja with aarti.2014-12-30Night photo of a fire ritual at an open-air ground, with small flames burning in a scattered pattern across the dark earth. In the foreground, a woman in a white shawl and white cloth sits cross-legged in front of a large fire pit, hands folded, eyes lowered. Behind her, several other people in white and light-coloured clothing sit in meditative postures beside their own small fires, with a few more standing at the edges. Buildings with lights are faintly visible in the background. The setting suggests a homa or fire-based meditation practice.2006-08-19Evening aarti in a covered hall with corrugated roof. Five standing men hold lit oil lamps aloft; four wear saffron-orange robes and orange shawls, while the man on the far right wears white with an orange shawl. Several seated young men in white clothing and rudraksha malas sit behind rows of brass bells, kalashas and small brass lamps on the floor. Seated devotees watch from the background. A framed picture and a tall painted wooden pillar stand against the wall.2008-10-03January 01 20092009-01-01December 20 20102010-12-20
