A photograph of an outdoor temple-approach ceremony on a ground painted with red, orange and white kolam designs. A figure in orange robes and an orange turban lies prostrate face-down on the ground in full devotional prostration. Around him stand a crowd of men mostly in white dhotis and white shirts, several wearing rudraksha-style necklaces, with hands folded or joined in reverence. One standing man in the centre wears a white kurta and a long orange shawl and has long dark hair and a beard, with hands clasped; he is a candidate for a person but the appearance is uncertain, so he is described only by role as a devotee in white and orange. A man in olive-green shirt stands nearby holding a small book. A white gopuram-style temple tower with decorative spires rises in the background under a pale sky.

Outdoors at a temple courtyard, a devotee in orange robes lies prostrate with arms outstretched on a leopard-print mat in front of a fire pit. Two shaved-headed priests in saffron and orange dhotis and shawls, with rudraksha malas, stand over the scene, one holding a small black case. A crowd of people in white dhotis and sarees and some in orange stands around, many with hands pressed together. Behind them is a temple gopuram under scaffolding, palm trees, and a stone lion sculpture on a pavilion at the right.

A prostrate devotee in orange robes with a gold-trimmed cloth lies flat on a leopard-print mat on a stone pavement, arms stretched forward, hair in a bun with gold ornaments. Around them a crowd stands in a covered hall: men in white dhotis and orange shawls, a bald priest in orange with a rudraksha mala pressing palms together, and women in orange and blue saris. Several people hold their hands in anjali. A man in white kurta and an orange shawl on the right holds his hands folded. Several photographers stand at the edge.

A courtyard gathering at an ashram-style location with whitewashed walls and a corrugated roof. Several men in white dhotis and shirts prostrate themselves full length on the stone floor, while others kneel with hands folded in reverence. A young man with long hair and a white outfit stands at center among younger men in white kurtas wearing orange and red garlands. On the right, a woman in an orange sari wears a garland of yellow and red flowers and stands near a carved stone pillar with a brass lamp. A man in an orange robe holds an offering tray. A few onlookers stand at the left edge, and an orange cloth hangs on a wall on the left.

A photograph of a devotee in an orange sari-style garment lying prostrate face-down on a stone floor decorated with coloured rangoli-style patterns in green, yellow, blue and red. Near her, a young man in an orange robe kneels with his hands joined in prayer. Around them, a crowd stands with palms pressed together or hands held in reverence; several women wear white saris with orange shawls, one woman wears a red sari, and a man in white with an orange shawl and a red tilak stands at the right edge. The setting appears to be a temple courtyard with a stone floor, consistent with a ritual salutation or padanamaskar.

Outdoors before a tall gopuram of a South Indian temple, a kneeling figure in saffron-orange robes with an orange head wrap bows deeply to the ground on a patterned rangoli-decorated area. Around them stand many men in white dhotis and white shirts, several wearing pendant necklaces, some with hands folded in namaskar and others standing with hands clasped. One man in an orange shawl with long dark hair and a bearded face stands near the center with hands folded. A man in olive-green shirt stands at right. A pink-walled structure and street lamp appear at left under a pale sky.

A photograph of an outdoor temple courtyard with a stone-paved floor, wet and marked with white kolam designs. In the centre a man in an orange robe lies prostrate face-down on the ground in a full-length obeisance, his head toward the left, while attendants watch. Around him, a row of onlookers stands with hands folded, including women in colourful saris and men in white dhotis and shirts. Two shaved-headed men in orange robes stand near a black cloth held open, and another in orange holds a small brass plate with offerings. Stone pillars, a gopuram-style tower and a small shrine structure form the background of a temple precinct.
