Its tiers are crowded with polychrome stucco figures of deities, celestial beings, animals and lion-like guardians in turquoise, red, orange and white. A seated deity sits in a niche at the lower centre, and a standing figure with raised arms appears in an arched shrine near the top. A plain whitewashed compound wall with brick courses stands at the lower right. No people are visible.2012-06-05A photograph of the south gopuram, the colourful tiered gateway tower of a South Indian temple, densely covered with painted stucco figures of deities, animals and mythical beings in red, blue, green, yellow and gold. Two large sculpted guardian figures with raised arms flank the central gateway, and a white sign below reads South Tower. No people are visible in the scene.2009-07-13Photo looking up at a tall, brightly painted South Indian gopuram temple tower covered in tiers of sculpted figures, pillars and niches in turquoise, green, ochre, pink and white. A stone-carved arched gateway with pillars sits at its base, behind a white-painted boundary wall.
