A bald priest in orange clothing and a white headband sits behind a low fire pit filled with smoke, with banana bunches, fruit trays and kalasha pots with mango leaves and flower garlands in front. Rows of seated devotees in saffron and orange shawls surround the rituals, some with hands folded. On a raised golden throne at the back, a figure in orange robes sits with a bolster-like cushion, while a man in white stands beside a small lectern. Oil lamps and metal trays are on the floor.2012-07-12Photo 11730886 +1 copiesFebruary 11 20062006-02-11A satsang in a pale hall with a large crowd seated on the floor in front of a raised brown leather throne. A central figure with long dark hair sits smiling in an orange-rust robe with a rudraksha mala and a gold necklace, a probable Swamiji by visible cues, with a small microphone and an ornate golden ceremonial staff behind him. Around him sit many young people in orange, saffron and white clothing, some with forehead vibhuti and bindis, and a few adults in white shirts stand in the background near framed photographs on the wall. Several seated devotees in white dhoti-style garments with yellow borders are seen from behind in the foreground.2015-08-28August 31 20122012-08-31Photo 11730615 +1 copiesA photograph of a satsang or ritual gathering on an orange cloth floor. A man seated on an ornate gold throne with red cushions wears orange robes, a saffron shawl and a long beaded necklace, and appears to be speaking; this appearance-based label is probable: a person, seated on the gold peetha. Around him sit about a dozen devotees on the floor: women in white and cream saris with braided hair and gold borders, a woman in an orange-red sari, a shaved-headed man with white markings on his bare torso, and a man in a white shirt with hands folded in namaste. Brass plates with lit diyas, sweets and orange-wrapped offerings lie before them, with a steel vessel and brass items at right. Behind the throne stands a small deity murti decorated with garlands, and a blue curtain backs the room.2010-12-31July 25 20172017-07-25 +1 copies
