A man in orange saffron cloth wrapped as a turban and a bare-chested orange dhoti-style garment pours liquid from a copper vessel hung on a chain onto a lingam decorated with white and yellow flower garlands. A devotee with folded hands in white clothing stands at the lower left edge. Behind the lingam are blue metal pipes and an electrical panel on a grey stone wall, with a small blue sign on the wall.2006-11-23Photograph of a shivalinga abhishekam at a small temple shrine framed by banana leaves and a stone wall. A young man in an orange-yellow dhoti-style robe and orange turban, wearing a long pink-and-white flower garland, pours liquid from a small metal vessel over a dark shivalinga set on a white cylindrical base. Beside him a man in a saffron-orange shawl and red-orange wrap stands with hands folded, and an older bearded man in saffron-orange robes stands nearby. Two men in white ritual clothes stand by, and a bare-chested man in a white dhoti with a blue-and-gold waistband stands at the right with hand on a blue rail. Red metal railings and a white painted cornice frame the scene.A figure in a saffron-orange robe with a matching orange head wrap stands in a decorated hall, holding aloft a silver lamp with a flame in one hand and a handbell in the other. Behind him, devotees in white clothing stand with palms pressed together, including a woman in a white sari with a red border on the left and a man in white dhoti and shirt on the right. Strings of tinsel and fairy lights hang from the ceiling, and framed portrait photographs line the walls. Ceremonial lamp waving suggests an aarti, with the flame and bell held in front of the orange-clad figure. The candidate's identity is uncertain from appearance alone, so the figure is described by role as a ritual officiant.
