The copper pillar is wrapped with rope and banded with ornate rings, and its base shrine holds a small deity murti framed by garlands of marigolds, white jasmine and yellow blooms, with grass brooms tied at the sides. A man kneels at lower left in orange robes, holding a brass plate of offerings up toward the flagstaff. At right, a figure in orange-red robes stands looking upward, holding a small bunch of flowers. Palm fronds and an overcast sky frame the scene.2009-07-08Outdoor photo beside a tall copper-clad pillar, a dwajastambha-style flagstaff, wrapped with woven straw bands and garlanded with yellow and orange marigold strands at its base. A man in a flowing saffron-orange robe and a gold bead necklace stands on a white platform, reaching up with both hands to grasp a long orange rope hanging from the top, with strings of orange and white flower-and-straw festoons above. A second man in an orange kurta and a forehead mark stands at the right edge. Coconut palms fill the background, and a few flower petals lie on the platform. Several seated devotees in orange with heads visible are at the bottom edge. This appears to be a flag-hoisting ceremony.2010-01-02 +1 copiesOutdoor photo of a copper dhwajastambha-style flagpost wrapped with white jasmine and red flower garlands, with a seated golden deity figure in a small copper shrine niche at its base. A tall copper pole rises from an ornate carved stone base with a shrine-like niche showing a seated figure, and yellow and purple flower garlands wrap its lower section. On the right, a man in an orange robe with a dark rudraksha mala, his hair swept back, reaches to touch the pole while holding a golden bowl. Beside him stands a bald priest in white dhoti and shawl with maroon borders, barefoot on an orange-draped platform. Palm trees and a grey stone statue appear in the background against a white sky.2010-09-13A man in saffron-orange robes and a rudraksha mala stands at the base of a tall ornate copper-and-brass flagstaff, reaching up with one arm to touch it. The pole is wrapped with garlands of yellow marigolds and red flowers, with a bundle of dried grass tied near its midpoint. Behind him stands a second man in white dhoti and shawl with a red border, holding a polished gold-coloured tray. Tall coconut palms and green foliage fill the background under a pale sky.2010-09-02
