February 27 20142014-02-27Outdoor Shiva abhishekam on red-painted stone steps. Many participants sit in rows on the steps, each before a black stone shivalingam set on a round black yoni-peetha base. Brass vessels and bowls surround the lingams. Several people blow long brass horns (shankha-style trumpets) toward the lingams. Most men are bare-chested wearing white dhotis and rudraksha malas; one man in front wears a red-bead mala and holds a horn. Women wear saris and red-bead malas, one in a white sari with red border and a woman in a cream-and-blue top, with vibhuti on her forehead. Behind, red tent fabric and a chain-link fence frame the scene, with a cameraman and a few people in the background.2016-12-17December 19 20162016-12-19December 20 20162016-12-20 +1 copiesAugust 14 20172017-08-14February 27 20142014-02-27February 27 20142014-02-27December 03 20162016-12-03Outdoor ritual scene on red-painted stone steps with many black stone shivalingams and brass vessels set out. Many participants sit in rows on the steps, most in white ritual clothes, with bare-chested men wearing rudraksha malas and white dhotis. A woman in white with a turquoise shawl and red-framed glasses pours or offers from a small vessel in the foreground. Black stone Shivalingas stand on the steps, each with brass pots and bowls of offerings, some with red flowers. Red flags on poles and a smoky haze rise behind, with more devotees seated on the upper steps. A camera on a tripod is visible at right. No individual is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance cues, so no candidate is marked.2016-12-18Large outdoor ritual on tiered red-brick steps lined with black stone shivalinga-style bases and rows of brass kalasha pots and small oil lamps. Dozens of participants sit in rows: many men are bare-chested wearing white dhotis and rudraksha malas, while women wear white saris, salwar, green, orange, red and purple garments. Many sit with palms pressed together in namaskar or eyes closed in meditation. A woman in pink leggings and a girl in white sit near the centre. Several Western-looking participants are visible among the Indian devotees.2016-12-03
