December 01 20122012-12-01Outdoor ritual scene beneath a large banyan tree with aerial roots. A long-haired man in a rust-red dhoti and bare chest, with a white tilak on his forehead, stands at centre with palms pressed together in anjali, wearing gold armlets and a gold necklace. Behind him, several men in saffron-orange dhotis, some with rudraksha malas, hold offering trays with flowers and fruit. On the left, women in white saris and a red-bordered sari stand with hands folded. A multicoloured fringed umbrella shades the scene. On the right, a large black deity murti with a golden ornate base is adorned with white garlands and a gold-and-red cloth, a black cobra-shaped stone sits on a red base, and flower petals are scattered on the ground. The setting suggests a puja offering.2016-08-02December 24 20122012-12-24January 24 20052005-01-24December 02 20122012-12-02December 02 20122012-12-02December 28 20122012-12-28December 30 20122012-12-30Outdoor ritual at dusk beneath trees at an ashram. A man in a saffron-orange turban and orange shawl, wearing a multicolour flower garland and holding a ritual object, stands at the right side of a circular raised platform. Around him a crowd of about twenty-five people sits or stands in white and pastel clothes with hands folded in prayer. A stone-lined pool or basin with flower garlands in yellow, white and red sits at left, with brass oil lamps, bowls and a small lantern-like lamp on a white cloth. A man in white with a long beard and white turban stands on the right holding a brass bell. Garlands drape the stone structure, and the setting sun glows through the foliage.2004-01-01November 12 20122012-11-12December 28 20122012-12-28January 24 20052005-01-24 +1 copies
