A colourful multicoloured canopy umbrella is held above the central group. Several saffron-robed sannyasis walk within the crowd, one with a bare shaved head and orange cloth, another in a pale orange robe. Men in white dhotis and uniformed police officers in khaki stand nearby, and brass ritual lamps are carried at the left edge. Strings of lights outline the temple walls and a tall gopuram rises behind. Several saffron-clad figures in the procession are visible, and a figure with long swept-back hair and ornate orange-gold clothing near the palanquin may be a person, though the identification is uncertain.2008-02-17Night photograph of a crowd in an outdoor event area with floodlights. In the centre, a man in saffron-orange robes, an orange turban and a long rudraksha mala smiles and holds his hands together. Behind him, a tall silver trident topped with a ceremonial finial rises above the crowd, and a white wall with marigold garlands runs along the right. A uniformed police officer in a grey-blue cap and shirt stands at the right edge. Other devotees in orange and red robes with beaded malas surround him, and a bald man in orange garb stands to the left. The a person label reflects an appearance-based candidate with several cues: the orange turban, rudraksha mala and saffron robes.2016-05-06April 21 20162016-04-21May 16 20162016-05-16 +1 copiesMay 06 20162016-05-06
