Night-time crowd scene at an outdoor street or temple approach. A central figure wears a red-orange turban and reddish-saffron cloth and is being garlanded with a long white and red flower garland placed around the neck. Around him, many men and women press close, several with white and orange tilak marks on the forehead; one man in a black shirt wears a white-and-saffron sash and a long beaded mala. A man in white shirt reaches toward the garlanded figure, and a child in a blue-green striped top stands at right with raised hand. Flower petals and marigold-like blooms are scattered on the ground and on people's heads, with a parked white vehicle and banana leaves in the background.2016-03-29Night-time photo of a crowd surrounding a central figure in a dark red turban and red-brown robe with a white and pink flower garland and rudraksha-style beads, smiling and raising a hand in greeting. Men in white shirts and dhotis, some with white forehead tilak, press around him; a man in an orange-striped shirt and a bare-chested man with white tilak are nearby. Someone in the lower right holds up a phone to record. Strings of green lights hang in the dark background, with a vehicle behind the crowd.2016-03-29Night photograph of a crowd surrounding a central figure in a maroon-red turban and rust-red robe with a long rudraksha mala draped over the shoulders. Several men in white shirts and dhotis, some with white tilak on the forehead and orange or saffron garments, press close and reach toward him while a woman in a teal sari with an orange flower in her hair is in the foreground. A dark vehicle is visible behind the group under a night sky, and a man at right holds up a phone to record. Cues for a person presence are the turban, rudraksha mala and saffron-toned robe, but the face is not visible enough to confirm identity.2016-03-29March 29 20162016-03-29March 29 20162016-03-29March 29 20162016-03-29Night photograph of a crowd gathered outdoors near a vehicle, with string lights overhead. Beside him a woman in a gold-and-maroon sari with a gold necklace stands closely with others. Around them, men in white shirts and dhotis, some with red and yellow tilak marks on their foreheads, press in. A grey-haired man with white forehead markings and a bead necklace appears behind them. At centre, a man in a red-orange turban and a red-and-white flower garland raises one hand and smiles, appearing to be a candidate for a person given the turban and garland, though his features are not clearly distinctive. Around him, devotees press close: a man in a black shirt shouts, men in white shirts and dhotis wear white vibhuti stripes on their foreheads, and a woman in a striped sari holds a bundle of green wheat stalks. A young girl in a green dress stands in front, and a man in a black-and-white shirt holds a phone at left.2016-03-29Photo 11742712
