A man in an orange-red dhoti and a red-orange flower garland, with beaded bracelets and a gold-toned chain, stands at right pulling a rope that runs up the pole, lifting or raising it. Coconut palms and bright sky appear behind him, with a sheltering roof edge at the top left.2015-02-23February 23 20152015-02-23A tall copper flagstaff, or dhvaja stambha, rises toward a clear blue sky, its ringed shaft wrapped with bands of carved ornament. Its base is draped with green leaves, straw-like grass and garlands of white and red flowers, and a small deity murti stands at the base. A yellow marigold garland with grass hangs from a rope at left beside a metal roof. At lower right, a man in an orange-red dhoti and shawl, wearing a rudraksha-style mala of beads and a flower garland, a vertical tilak on his forehead, holds the rope that raises the pole with one hand. Palm fronds appear at the edges.2015-02-23March 05 20112011-03-05March 05 20112011-03-05 +1 copies
