November 24 20162016-11-24Photograph of a row of shirtless male priests seated on red-painted steps among many dark cylindrical stone lingams, a ritual setting in a temple courtyard. The foreground priest in the right of frame wears a rudraksha mala, a white forehead mark and white body markings, and holds his palms together in a gesture of prayer. Others in the row wear white dhoti cloths and orange-saffron cloths over one shoulder, with rudraksha malas, white tripundra marks and white ash on their bodies, some with hands raised or folded in worship. A brass lota and small brass vessels sit near the front. The priests are seated, not facing the camera directly, and no one in the scene is clearly identifiable as a specific presiding figure.2016-11-11November 22 20162016-11-22A row of men seated on red-and-white steps in an outdoor temple setting, with their hands folded in anjali mudra in prayer. The nearest man in front wears a rudraksha mala, a white horizontal tilak with white body markings on his bare upper torso, and an orange cloth draped over his lap. Behind him, other men in white dhotis and orange cloths sit similarly, some with white vibhuti streaks on their faces and chests. Several black stone lingam-shaped objects stand in a line along the left side of the frame, and brass vessels rest near the bottom. No one in the scene is identifiable as a person by the cues described, so no candidate is marked.2016-11-11A row of bare-chested male priests sits on red-edged stone steps lined with black lingam-shaped stone forms. The foreground priest at right, wearing dark rudraksha malas and a white-streaked face, holds his right hand raised in a mudra while speaking. Others beside him wear orange dhotis, white dhotis and white vibhuti stripes on arms and chest, and a seated priest at left holds a brass vessel. Visible ritual setting with puja items and shivalinga-like stones suggests a Shiva temple ritual.2016-11-11November 22 20162016-11-22November 23 20162016-11-23Several young male devotees sit in rows on red-and-grey stepped stone platforms beside many small black stone shivalingas. They are bare-chested with rudraksha malas, white ash markings on their foreheads and arms, and wear orange and white dhotis. Their hands are raised in prayer and one devotee touches his forehead. Brass vessels and small offerings lie on the steps. No a person candidate is visible, so the figures are described by role only.2016-11-11November 14 20162016-11-14July 31 20172017-07-31 +1 copiesDecember 31 20162016-12-31Photo 11709366
