A long-haired figure in an orange-brown shawl, wearing a flower garland with white, yellow and pink blooms, reaches forward to hold a red fruit being offered at a green-painted altar. Behind him a bare-chested priest in a red and green dhoti and pearl necklace holds a red fruit over the altar, with a brass lamp beside it. A cameraman in a yellow shirt films with a Sony camera, and several men in white and saffron clothing crowd the narrow street.2017-02-07Photo 11698027February 04 20182018-02-04Photograph of a crowded ritual gathering at night. In the foreground, a bare-chested man with a short beard and glasses, wearing a white dhoti and an orange headband, bends forward with cupped hands receiving something from a long-haired man at right. That man has long dark hair, a garland of pink and white flowers around his neck, a dark rudraksha-style mala, gold bangles and a gold earring, and wears a maroon shawl over his bare shoulder. Behind them, several bare-chested men with white markings on their torsos and foreheads stand in the crowd, some wearing white dhotis and beaded necklaces. A red cloth-covered surface and gold ornament edge appear at the right edge. The setting suggests a Rudra Abhishekam or similar temple ritual, though the exact rite is not clearly visible.2016-12-02Night-time outdoor darshan at a temple courtyard. A man in rust-red robes, rudraksha malas and a thick gold armband sits on an ornate gilded throne with red cushions and places his right hand on the head of a bare-chested devotee in a white dhoti who kneels before him. Beside them a saffron-clad attendant with rudraksha malas holds a white cloth, and another white-clad man holds a tray of red fruit. Behind them, several people in white dhotis and saffron robes stand and sit on a stone-tiled platform near a potted plant and a green cloth. A stone pillar and a figure in a blue jacket appear at the right edge. Swamiji candidate appears seated on the throne; appearance cues include long swept-back hair, a dark beard, rudraksha malas and gold earrings, so this is a probable identification.2018-02-04Photo 11687456 +3 copies
