A man in a rust-red robe with a long red and white flower garland and a rudraksha mala stands barefoot on a paved floor, while a long-haired man in an orange dhoti holds a lit oil lamp toward him. Several people in white dhotis and orange shawls stand with hands folded, and colourful decorated umbrellas in yellow, blue, purple and red are held overhead. A trident stands in the centre, and to the right an ornate throne-like seat and a decorated stand with flowers and cloth are arranged, with a small screen on the platform.2016-11-12 +1 copiesSeptember 15 20162016-09-15Evening procession under a white canopy strung with colourful hanging lanterns and fairy lights. A central figure with a long beard and orange-red robes, wearing a large garland and a gold chain, stands with palms joined, while a white-umbrella carrier in white dhoti holds a tall white parasol above him. Men in white dhotis and orange-saffron cloths walk around, one playing a large drum. On the right a costumed figure in headdress and a decorative carved mask stands among the crowd. In the foreground are stacks of colourful umbrellas and staves, a white sack, and empty black chairs with red cushions. Near the ceiling and around the procession, a number of people are visible, with several more in the background.2016-12-09Night procession under a white and red tent decorated with colourful striped banners, paper lanterns and string lights. A central figure with a crown-like gold headpiece, long beaded necklaces and a red-brown shawl holds his hands together in namaste while a white parasol is carried above him. Men in white dhotis with gold borders and orange-clad drummers accompany him; a bare-chested man with long hair and a green loincloth walks at right. Floral garlands, a kalasha-style pot and ritual trays are visible, with a carried staff and offerings in the lower left. The figure's appearance matches the page's a person reference through cues such as the swept-back crown, ornate gold necklaces and saffron-toned shawl, so this is a probable appearance-based identification in procession.2016-12-09 +1 copiesNight-time outdoor procession on a paved courtyard strung with coloured lights and a spiral-striped pole. A bearded man in a maroon garment and a large red-and-white flower garland stands centre, with a crescent tilak on his forehead, while a shirtless man in white dhoti bends low at his feet holding a small brass vessel. To the left, a shirtless young man in orange dhoti and a fan-shaped ceremonial headdress carries a leaf-and-flower offering. Behind them, women in white saris with orange shawls hold a trishul-like staff and a brass pot, and a woman in a green sari beats a round drum. Smoke rises beside them, and orange-and-red parasols with embroidered emblems stand at right.2016-11-12 +1 copiesA night-time photograph of a welcome procession at an open-sided hall with a tiled floor and a rangoli design. In the centre, a bearded man in a rust-brown robe with a long white and red flower garland stands with palms pressed together in greeting. Behind him, a man holds a long-handled ornate parasol with a green canopy and multicoloured fringe. Further left, a row of drummers in saffron-orange dhotis, some bare-chested with rudraksha malas, play large round drums. A man in white holds a purple and gold cloth bundle. Hanging lanterns and decorative banners fill the background, and a golden staff stands at the left edge.2016-10-21October 30 20162016-10-30December 23 20162016-12-23Photo 11698066December 09 20162016-12-09
