October 30 20162016-10-30Night outdoor festival scene with a smiling man in a loose beige kurta and shawl, his face and hair dusted with white powder, hands pressed together in greeting. Behind him, several devotees have white powder on their faces and bare chests, a small child with white-smeared face and beaded necklaces stands at left, and a blue ornate umbrella and orange flags are visible. Bright lights and blurred figures fill the background. A copyright credit overlays the lower right corner. The man's appearance (long swept hair, beige clothing, no distinctive crown or saffron robes) does not meet the threshold for an identification, so he is described only by role and clothing.2016-10-30Photo 11697797 +1 copiesOctober 10 20162016-10-10Night photograph of a crowd of bare-chested devotees in a bright, hazy outdoor gathering lit by a glowing light above. A bare-chested man with a shaved head and white-streaked skin holds a large white plate, while a young boy in a yellow waist cloth stands beside him. Another figure with long dark hair plays a drum in the foreground. A man on the left carries a tall ornate golden staff topped with a decorated finial. He wears an orange cloth across his lower body and a red-and-gold waistband. Around him, people reach upward with raised hands; many wear white and cream clothes, and some are splashed with colour. Overhead, a ceiling is strung with white garlands, yellow flower strands and small framed pictures, with fluorescent tube lights and a red-and-white decorated pole. A man in a pink-and-white turban and a photographer with a camera stand in the crowd. In the centre, a long-haired man in a cream kurta and cream dhoti stands bent forward, holding a rope or pole, while nearby men and women in white clothes splashed with coloured powder smile and cheer. Several men wear orange or saffron shawls, and a standing man on the left wears a rudraksha mala and holds a rope. Women in white saris with orange borders sit and stand in the crowd, and a standing electric fan and tube lights hang overhead. A red floor cloth covers the ground.
