Busy riverside ghat at Varanasi on the Ganges, with stone steps descending to the water. Dozens of people walk, sit and stand on the steps and promenade, many under colourful patio umbrellas and canopies in yellow, pink, green and blue. Boats are moored along the left bank and a red-and-white passenger boat sits at the water's edge. Behind the crowd rise a red spired temple shrine and older pale stone and multistorey buildings, with a hazy sky above. Several people in orange and saffron clothing are visible among the crowd, and a man in white kurta walks down the steps at right. No individual is clearly identifiable as a person from the visible cues.2015-10-02October 02 20152015-10-02Elevated view of a busy riverside ghat on the Ganges in Varanasi, with stone steps leading down to the water. Many people in mostly white and orange clothing sit, stand and walk on the stone platforms beneath colourful umbrellas and tarpaulin canopies, with some bathing at the water's edge. Moored wooden boats and motorboats float on the hazy river, red-painted temple buildings and red flags stand along the right, and small stalls and seated vendors line the steps. No individual candidate for the a person is clearly identifiable in the scene.2015-10-02Photo 11695908A wide hazy view of a crowded riverfront ghat on the Ganges in Varanasi. Dozens of people sit and stand on stone steps beneath many colourful striped and patterned umbrellas, some in white and pink, with a few in orange and green. Rows of wooden rowing boats crowd the water, and a tall orange flag on a pole stands near the edge. Pink and white temple-like towers and old buildings line the bank under a pale sky. The scene shows everyday ghat activity rather than a named ritual.2015-10-02Photo 11695932October 02 20152015-10-02Photo 11695912 +1 copiesOctober 02 20152015-10-02A crowded riverside ghat in Varanasi on the Ganga under hazy morning light. Many people walk, sit and stand on wide stone steps and promenades, with numerous pastel and multicoloured umbrellas shading vendors and seated figures. Traditional temple spires in red and white rise above a row of old multistorey buildings, and boats rest at the water's edge on the left. On the right, a tall pillar painted with a blue-skinned deity figure stands beside the steps. Several people wear white dhotis and orange or saffron cloths.2015-10-02October 02 20152015-10-02October 02 20152015-10-02
