July 08 20142014-07-08Interior of a home shrine decorated for a visit, with a carved wooden mandapam-style altar draped in orange and white marigold and jasmine garlands. Behind it hangs a framed picture of deities, and on the left a framed portrait in a garland of pink, magenta and yellow flowers shows a figure in orange robes. Brass oil lamps stand on either side of the altar, with fruit, flower offerings and brass vessels arranged below. On the right, a man in white dhoti and shirt with a yellow cloth over his shoulder, seen from behind, faces the shrine beside a large white and red-yellow garland hanging in the doorway. A wooden side table on the left holds more marigolds and framed photos.2010-01-10A wooden home shrine cabinet against a cream wall holds a printed portrait labelled "PARAMAHAMSA NITHYANANDA" of a seated man in orange robes, with a rudraksha-style beaded necklace, a red bindi and a raised hand, set before a banyan tree trunk. The portrait is garlanded with white flower strands and red roses, with an orange silk cloth draped at its side. Red roses lie on the shrine ledge, with a small brass lamp, a brass bell, a brass oil lamp and a kalasha-like cup on a metal tray in front, and a tissue box, a bottle and a matchbox nearby on the floor.2009-08-20July 07 20142014-07-07July 07 20142014-07-07 +1 copiesA person in a sleeveless orange top with long dark hair and a white and red flower garland holds a lit oil lamp before a home shrine in a plain white-walled room. On the left wall hangs a framed portrait of a figure in orange robes with a beaded necklace, draped with flower garlands. Smoke rises from the shrine, and a sliver of another person in white is visible at the right edge.2010-01-10July 10 20142014-07-10September 23 20062006-09-23Home shrine table with silver tray covered in white jasmine flowers, yellow and purple blossoms, and a small lit oil lamp in the lower right. A framed large print of Lord Shiva seated in meditation, with crescent moon, trident and red-and-yellow flower garland, dominates the back. Two large framed portraits are garlanded with white jasmine, pink and red flowers and yellow marigold. The right portrait shows a smiling man with long hair in orange robes, a rudraksha mala and a gold necklace, raising one hand, in front of a banyan tree; a caption reads PARAMAHAMSA NITHYANANDA. The centre portrait shows a similar figure in white with a crown-like backdrop, also garlanded. Two brass oil lamps with lit flames, smaller framed photos, a seated brass deity murti and a small orange-clad figurine complete the arrangement, with orange cloth draped at left.2010-01-10A home shrine photographed indoors against a cream wall. Above the table hangs a framed painting of a seated figure in orange robes and a black cap on an ornate throne with green drapery. On the left, a large black-backed print shows a bare-chested figure in orange-brown dhoti holding a silver trident. The central figure, a smiling person in orange robes, red-orange turban and multiple rudraksha malas, stands behind the table among framed photographs and garlands of orange, red and yellow flowers. Brass lamps with a lit oil lamp, brass deity figures garlanded in pink and red flowers, flower offerings, a small silver bowl and a brass kalasha sit on a leopard-print cloth and a glass table. The setting suggests a daily paduka puja offering.2021-04-03 +1 copies
