In the foreground, a shaved-headed man in an orange-brown cloth wrapped over his shoulder, with a rudraksha mala around his neck and white markings on his arm, holds up a tiered brass aarti lamp with many lit oil lamps. Two painted deity murti with four arms stand in niches on either side of a doorway, which opens onto a gold-decorated shrine with a framed portrait. Brass oil lamps stand along the walls and a white marble floor reflects the flames. The man is a priest performing aarti, not a figure whose identity is established here.2013-12-01January 29 20142014-01-29 +1 copiesJune 01 20142014-06-01Photo 11742592 +2 copiesA photograph inside a temple shrine. In the foreground, a shaved-headed man in an orange-saffron cloth with a rudraksha mala holds up a lit multi-flame brass aarti lamp, its flames blazing. Behind the lamp, a person in white sits before a golden throne-like altar (peetha) at the center of the shrine. Above the altar hangs a framed portrait of a man in an orange turban and saffron robe, with a golden frame and a crown-like top. Two large painted standing figures with crowns and multiple arms, in orange dhotis and green sashes, flank the doorway, and brass lamp stands line the walls. The shrine is decorated with pastel blue, orange and green painted columns and cloth. The man holding the aarti is a priest or devotee; the figure in the portrait is a printed image, not a physical person.2013-12-02October 04 20142014-10-04A temple aarti scene in a dimly lit shrine with blue and red walls and two standing female dvarapala-style statues with raised hands flanking the entrance. In the foreground, a priest with bare upper body and white painted markings on his arms holds up a tiered brass lamp with many lit oil lamps, its flames glowing. Behind him, a second figure in white dhoti stands near the entrance, and tall brass lamp stands line the wall. Inside the doorway, a framed deity image is partly visible.2013-09-28November 28 20132013-11-28 +3 copies
