Photo 116856342013-02-10A dense crowd of pilgrims fills a wide dusty road through the Kumbh Mela camp-city at Prayagraj, with thousands of people walking in both directions past rows of white and blue tarpaulin tents, banners and small stalls. Many are wrapped in shawls and saris against the cold, and a steel railway-style bridge with brick piers spans the road overhead. On the left, a large yellow-and-white banner shows a portrait of a man with dark hair and a beard, and an orange flag hangs from a pole. Hazy sky and parked white vehicles appear among the tents.2013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10Aerial view of a dense crowd at the Kumbh Mela camp-city, with thousands of pilgrims filling a wide dirt road beneath a steel railway bridge. Rows of white and grey tents, blue tarpaulins and colourful flags fill the background. A tall red-brick chimney stands in the centre, flanked by red-and-white ornamental gateways and a red clock tower on the right. Large hoardings show a seated saffron-robed figure with a crown on a central banner, along with yellow and red signboards in Hindi. Cars and buses are parked along the lower right edge.2013-02-10February 05 20132013-02-05Aerial view of a crowded dirt road at the Maha Kumbh Mela camp in Allahabad, packed with thousands of pilgrims in colourful saris, kurtas and shawls. Tents with blue, orange and yellow tarpaulins line both sides, and a steel truss bridge with brick piers spans the top of the frame. A large banner on the left shows a portrait of a man, and several white cars are parked among the crowd near a red and white temple structure.2013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10Aerial view of a dense Kumbh Mela crowd moving down a wide road between rows of white and coloured tents and temporary structures, beneath a steel truss bridge with stone piers. Thousands of pilgrims in mixed clothing of red, white, orange and blue fill the road, with cars and vans parked to one side. Red-and-white gate structures and orange-roofed sheds line the route, and a hazy grey sky fills the top of the frame. A partially visible banner with a portrait sits at the lower left. The scene is a camp-city crowd rather than a single ritual act.2013-02-10
