He has a vertical tilak mark on his forehead and a metal bangle on his wrist. Behind him is a white cloth backdrop with a faint world-map print, and an orange cloth lies on the ground at left. Another drum is partly visible at the far left edge. The white dhoti and shirt contrast with the warm brown drum.2011-11-10December 29 20082008-12-29Three male musicians sit cross-legged on a red mat playing long dark wooden nadaswaram-style wind instruments with flared bells, each decorated with yellow tassels. The musician in the centre wears a white shirt and white dhoti with a gold-bordered cloth across his lap; the man on the left wears a white shirt and white dhoti, and the man on the right wears a maroon shirt and a green-patterned dhoti. All three wear gold bangles and a red-and-white sacred thread, and the centre player has a red tilak on his forehead. A microphone stands on the mat in front, a small black bag sits beside them and a drum is partly visible at the far left against a white wall.2013-12-25May 18 20122012-05-18Vintage colour photograph of an outdoor evening gathering. Several barechested drummers in white dhotis and shawls play large drums with ornate red and patterned bodies at the upper left and centre, with more drummers standing behind them. Rows of seated men in white dhotis and shirts fill the foreground, many wearing glasses. One older man in the middle of the seated crowd, with a hand near his face, is circled in black marker; no name is printed in the frame. Temple-style awnings and lamps are visible in the background.November 06 20112011-11-06A row of young male drummers in white dhotis and brown shoulder cloths performs at a festival tent, playing wooden-stick drums with rope-tensioned heads. Several wear rudraksha-style bead necklaces and some are bare-chested. Behind them stand additional men in white, and a seated man in white with a shaved head and a rudraksha mala appears at the lower right. Tent poles with hanging decorative bands and a colourful striped mat are visible.2008-07-17
